You are a spirit... You Have a Body
Did you know you have about 640 muscles in your body? That's a lot of places to carry tension. Here are some suggestions to help them relax.

Sometimes we get tense because we "become" the problems in our life. So here's a little exercise to get some separation from them.
Sit comfortably in a chair, with your feet on the floor, uncrossed. Close your eyes, relax but stay alert. Picture yourself in your body, in the middle of your head. Be aware of the earth below your feet (ground if you know about that). Now think of a problem in your life. Picture a bubble a couple of feet out in front of you, and see the problem in the bubble. Imagine what color it might be. Then put your focus on yourself, and be right in the center of your head, behind your eyes. Say hello to yourself. See that problem bubble out there, distinct from you, separate from you. Something you're experiencing or going through, but not you. You can even say to yourself "yep, that's a problem, but it's not me." Send that bubble away, and let it pop. Then picture a big golden sun above your head, filled with your own unique energy. Bring it down into and around you, filling up your whole body from head to toe. Stretch, take a deep breath and open your eyes. Feel better? Find a quiet place, sit in a chair with your feet flat on the ground, your legs uncrossed and your arms unfolded. Close your eyes. Be aware of your body and what it feels like. Bring your attention to the center of your head, climb on in there as a place to experience your body from. From there, notice the base of your torso. Notice where the center of the earth is, straight down below you.
Now imagine a tree trunk or some other long, inanimate object connecting that base of your torso to the center of the earth. See it in your mind’s eye. Notice how it makes you feel. Take a minute to enjoy it. Then allow the stress and worries that you’re ready to let go of to release down this grounding cord. When you’re done, imagine a big golden ball of your own energy above your head. Bring it down into and around your body to fill in all the spaces from which you released energy. Take a deep breath, stretch and open your eyes. Congratulations! You’ve done your first grounding exercise. From our April 2018 newsletter |
